Overview
The regime does not sit idle while you work: the Court menu records your entire relationship with it. It tracks each of his three vassals' anger toward you, the Infamy you have built against the regime, and which Edicts it currently has in force against you.
Court Activities raise a specific vassal's anger
41 Court Activities are divided among Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe. Each one is directed: it provokes that vassal's anger rather than feeding a general meter. So the court is a target you can pick, not a barrier you must wear down evenly.
Ambrus, the youngest, can be challenged earliest; Bakir occupies the middle; Xanthe, the oldest, is the costliest to reach.
When Infamy climbs, Brencis answers with Edicts aimed at Coen — nine in total, and they are genuine penalties rather than decoration. Peak Infamy carries its own achievement, Throne of Thorns, a sign the designers expect some players to deliberately chase the meter's peak.
Which means notoriety is a build decision
You can spend the month quietly and stay out of the regime's notice, or become the valley's biggest problem and accept the Edicts as the price of doing business. Both approaches work — the Court menu tracks it all as it unfolds.
