Overview
This guide covers the launch build of 3 September 2026, drawing only on developer acknowledgements and the shipped settings menu. Regard it as a snapshot, since patches will render parts of it obsolete, and corrections will be dated as they arrive.
Crashing while it compiles shaders
Per Bandai Namco, affected players should update to the latest BIOS. The connection sounds strange, but the crash lives in the engine's decompression library, which is vulnerable to a particular processor errata that firmware updates correct.
Two further steps help before you pass judgement: install the game on an SSD, and give the first shader compilation time to finish before concluding the stutter is permanent.
Stuttering in windowed or borderless
Developer guidance is to play in Full Screen. Within the Display tab the setting is called Display Mode, offering Fullscreen, Borderless and Windowed.
If stutter persists in full screen, set the graphics driver's shader cache size to unlimited, then shut down all overlay and monitoring tools before retesting. Frame-rate overlays are a frequent cause of crashes in Unreal Engine 5 titles and are free to switch off.
Two issues are acknowledged. Button remapping is not yet available on PlayStation 5 pads, though the developers say a fix is underway. Sprint ends if you change direction mid-sprint on a gamepad; the interim advice is to lower controller sensitivity from 1 to 0.8 in the settings.
Players have found an alternative workaround for the sprint issue that keeps your sensitivity: set the controller's deadzone shape to square in Steam's controller layout instead of changing anything in the game.
Which graphics settings to reach for
On first launch the game selects a preset via a hardware benchmark, and tells you so. Treat that preset as a starting point, not a final verdict.
The upscaler is the strongest lever for frame rate. The game ships DLSS, FSR, XeSS and TSR — which of them appear depends on your hardware — and keeps the upscaling technology separate from the upscaling mode, so method and aggressiveness are chosen independently. Frame generation is also present for DLSS and FSR, which the game marks experimental.
After that, the settings whose descriptions admit the heaviest cost are Light Quality, Shadow Quality, Volumetric Quality and Foliage Quality. Texture Quality trades against video memory rather than the processor, so it only helps cards that are short on memory, and does little otherwise.
What the menu does not have
Three missing features are worth stating plainly: no HDR option, no field-of-view slider, and no ultrawide or aspect-ratio setting. None of the seventy-six options on the seven tabs provides any of them.
What is present — and easy to overlook — is three colourblind modes plus a strength slider, found on the Display tab.
