Bandit's Report

Meant to be handed to the boss when the month ends, the report lists: two travellers bound for Svartrau, coinless but relieved of their boots; two manumits who wanted the bandits to join them, tied up and handed to soldiers under the pretence of being villagers; a pedlar robbed of his cart with wooden spoons, a pickaxe, five loaves of bread and much more.

Yet another manumit, tracked in the woods for selling to the soldiers, died first — so they buried him.
