Blood Covenant: On the Sin of Envy

Florin concedes envy comes naturally to the flock: the vrakhiri live forever, with strength to match Goliath's and cunning to match David's, and many fantasise of joining the knyaz by moonlight.

But few are ever considered for the blessing, and fewer still granted it, for creating a new vrakhir costs its maker a part of itself — and its power.

Some covet the vrakhiri so fiercely that they attempt to turn themselves, seeking vrakhiri teeth to plunge into their own corrupted hearts — yet instead of becoming godlike, these reprobates turn into brainless murohni: apt chastisement, and a caution. Remember to obey.
