Faded Orders

These faded orders, signed by Captain Constantin of the Svartrau City Guard, relay the crown's command — His Majesty Knyaz Skender Dragosti — prompted by Parlita's desperate plea for help, the patrol is to reconnoitre the summit called the Balaur and the lands about it for a beast said to have terrorised the area for years.

His Majesty, the orders note, is fully aware no such monster exists — but stupid, unchristian superstition must not take root among the simple-minded populace. Should the 'monster' prove to be bandits, as is most probable, they are to lose their heads and see them mounted in Parlita; the same for one or several animals. The orders are to be carried out within a week.
