From Life of St. Cuthbert
Saint Cuthbert dwelt in solitude on the Farne Islands, in northern waters, often spotted at prayer standing amid the waves. Recluse though he was, he became Bishop of Lindisfarne in 684 — yet after two years, sensing death near, he resigned the see and went back to his cell.
His body, discovered undecayed, sent his relics carrying many blessings throughout the realm, a marvel of divine grace.
