On Wallachia’s Independence
This text presents Wallachia as the youngest of the independent Carpathian states,
conceived when the voivode Basarab renounced fealty to Hungary's king.
The King sent an army to crush the rebellion, but it was his own force that was destroyed at Posada in the year 1330.
Humiliated yet still demanding loyalty, the King was ignored — and Wallachia became independent.
