Fortifying

Fortifying is a positive status that hardens you against incoming damage. While it is active, all damage you take is reduced, giving you noticeably more effective health against both mobs and bosses.

Fortifying has several documented sources. The Turtle Master's Mandolin grants it directly, and two enchantments can create it: Shielding Smite on melee or ranged weapons, which has a chance to summon a Fortifying well on kill, and Barrier Brew Enchantment on armor, which creates a Fortifying well for allies when you drink a potion.

Fortifying is a staple defensive buff for difficult encounters and high-threat missions. The wells from Shielding Smite and Barrier Brew Enchantment can protect your whole party, making it valuable in Minecraft Dungeons II Multiplayer Guide runs — place them before big pulls or boss phases. It stacks thematically with Regenerating wells from Buddy Brew Enchantment and Healing Smite Enchantment (Minecraft Dungeons II), giving you damage reduction plus healing at the same time. For pure survival windows, combine Fortifying with Invulnerable from the Warding Chimes to shrug off mechanics that would otherwise force a retreat.
