Scenario details
The five-scenario rework follows Alaric and Ataulf from Roman service to the founding of a Visigothic homeland in Gaul. Mission order and scenario notes: 1. The Battle of the Frigidus — Fight as the Goths on the Eastern Roman side of a large three-front battle. Hold the allied center while helping defeat the Western Roman force, then secure the Relics and take Arbogast’s base to complete the victory 2. Razing Hellas — Lead a fixed Gothic force through four Greek cities without villagers or a conventional starting economy. Each captured city supplies new troops and resources; finish by breaking the Roman army blocking the route north 3. The Belly of the Beast — Build up in northern Italy, take the fortified cities of Aquileia and Cremona, then approach Ravenna only after the emperor is ready to receive an envoy. Sarus’s betrayal turns the negotiations into a final fight 4. The Giant Falls — Establish a base outside Rome and coordinate with the Visigoth and Ataulf forces to breach the city. The victory condition is the fall of the twelve defensive Castles; the city’s Wonders are not required 5. A Kingdom of Our Own — After Alaric’s death, guide Ataulf’s Goths across the Rhône and secure a homeland in Gaul. Establish a foothold, defend against rival armies, and complete the three marked Castles to claim the cities Use the named objectives, starting setup, and mission order in this entry to distinguish it from the standard skirmish rules.
