Condottiero: Condottieri are a fast infantry answer to gunpowder armies and can be added quickly when the opponent’s Hand Cannoneers, Organ Guns, or similar units become central to the fight. They also contest some common support units effectively at close range.

Condottiero: Condottieri are a fast infantry answer to gunpowder armies and can be added quickly when the opponent’s Hand Cannoneers, Organ Guns, or similar units become central to the fight. They also contest some common support units effectively at close range.
Plan and execution
Scout for gunpowder production, then add Condottieri as a focused counter while keeping other troops to deal with the enemy’s broader army. Use their speed to reach exposed gunpowder units and protect them from being screened away by cavalry. Because they need no separate upgrade, they can reinforce a response rapidly.
Risks and adaptation
Condottieri cost gold and are not a universal replacement for the main infantry line. Ranged focus fire, defensive buildings, or a composition that contains little gunpowder can make a large investment wasteful; stop production when the matchup changes.
