Golden Swamp gold-and-water strategy

Golden Swamp places high-value gold beside a broad ring of water, so a land-only plan can leave both fishing income and late-game naval pressure unused.

Overview

Golden Swamp places high-value gold beside a broad ring of water, so a land-only plan can leave both fishing income and late-game naval pressure unused.

Plan and execution

Scout the gold ring and identify safe shore access before sending miners forward. Use the water for fishing where it remains secure, contest approaches with Galleys, and add Cannon Galleons later when the fleet can protect them. Choose an early pressure or tower plan only if the starting civilization and route support it; otherwise secure the gold gradually behind the army.

Risks and adaptation

Gold Rush-style aggression still matters, but the surrounding water changes the resource and siege options. Do not commit to a fleet without a protected Dock or send miners into the center while the opponent controls the approach.
