Opening decision and first timing
Extra Town Center food can fund an earlier age-up or first mounted units. Scout Relics before the Castle Age so Monks can move under escort when they become available. The attack bonus from garrisoned Relics rewards map control, but losing several units to secure one Relic can erase its value.
Composition, counters, and transition
Knights and Leitis become more threatening after safe Relic collection, while faster Spearmen and Skirmishers help cover their counters. Winged Hussars can take over mobile pressure when gold grows scarce. Do not assume the Relic bonus alone wins a fight; upgrade the main unit line and preserve food production for sustained cavalry.
Opening priorities
Spend the starting food advantage on a faster age-up or a stronger early military while keeping Villagers working.
Core army
Cavalry and Monks are a strong pairing; relic control can further improve the mounted army.
Technology & transition
Secure Relics when safe and convert the resulting cavalry strength into map control and late production.
Watch for
The added cavalry damage depends on collecting Relics, so do not base every fight on an advantage you have not secured.
