Overview

The Battle of Guandu has a timed first phase to destroy Yuan Shao’s supply structures, followed by a full attack where five enemy Commanders must be defeated. Use the first phase for objectives, not a premature field battle.

Plan and execution

Choose the hero that fits your opening: Zhang Liao adds a strong cavalry attack, while Xun Yu improves nearby unit armor. Leave Guandu’s city guard to hold the initial defense and send the player-controlled force to the supply camps. Target the structures that feed Yuan Shao’s army within the twenty-minute window, then return to the city with enough time to reinforce it. In the second phase, keep the economy and production active and pursue the five Commanders with siege support.

Risks and adaptation

The first phase has a strict timer and the full enemy attack arrives afterward. Do not let the city guard pull the main army into a prolonged defense before the supply objective is complete; preserve the hero and plan a fallback route.
