The Battle of Rio de Janeiro Wonder defense
The Battle of Rio de Janeiro puts a Wonder under naval pressure. Use shore defenses to absorb enemy fire while luring the most dangerous ships into their range, and account for advantages carried over from earlier missions.

Overview
The Battle of Rio de Janeiro puts a Wonder under naval pressure. Use shore defenses to absorb enemy fire while luring the most dangerous ships into their range, and account for advantages carried over from earlier missions.
Plan and execution
At the landing, preserve the starting army while taking control of the inland bases and securing the Wonder approach. Use Fire Ships to draw hostile Fire Ships and Demolition Ships under Castle fire, then focus on the Galleons and Cannon Galleons before they can sustain pressure on the Wonder. Keep your own fleet from clustering where Heavy Demolition Ships can destroy it, and take advantage of any earlier campaign reward that improves your navy or limits enemy siege access. Maintain repairs and production during the quieter intervals.
Risks and adaptation
On higher difficulties a direct fleet exchange can be too costly; the Wonder’s durability only buys time. Demolition Ships can punish a grouped fleet, so spread and screen your ships. This defense guide applies to Legendary and below; stronger difficulties require a more powerful inherited fleet or a different approach.
