Alaska

Alaska is a Definitive Edition map based on the U.S. state of Alaska and included among the game’s single-player maps. Its layout combines land with a body of water running along roughly half of the map’s edge, so it offers both terrestrial routes and a coastal boundary.

Map character

The edge water separates some approaches from the land routes and changes where units can move or establish a presence. Scout the shoreline and nearby passages before committing to a long rotation around the map. Because it is a single-player map with a generated layout, exact resource and Treasure positions should be checked in the current match rather than assumed from the name.

What to scout

Use the land route that keeps workers and reinforcements connected, and account for the water edge when choosing a forward position. Scout for openings and local objectives before sending the army away from the base. The coastline may constrain movement, but it does not remove the need to defend exposed land approaches.

Land and water create different movement limits

The shoreline occupies a substantial edge of the map, so a force moving toward the far side may have fewer routes than on an entirely open plain. That can make scouting the edge useful before an army begins a long march. The exact passages and resource sites vary by generated layout; treat the map description as a terrain cue and use exploration to plan the actual route.
