Cherokee Horse Archer

Cherokee Horse Archer is fast ranged cavalry recruited from a Cherokee Native settlement. It is a map-dependent allied unit rather than a universal Stable option, so access depends on a map that offers the Cherokee and securing the relevant Native presence.

Role, availability & values

It costs 30 Food and 90 Wood, uses one population and takes 30 seconds to train. It has 180 hit points, 10% hand resistance, 8.0 speed and 18 line of sight. Its ranged attack deals 8 damage at range 12 every 1.5 seconds; its hand attack deals 2, and its siege attack deals 4 at range 6 every 3 seconds. Speed and sight are stronger assets than raw damage, making it a poor choice for prolonged frontal trades.

Matchup & timing

Use the Horse Archer to scout, chase isolated units, threaten an exposed economy or reposition between fights. Its speed helps it choose engagements, but its health and modest damage mean it should not stand toe-to-toe with Heavy Cavalry or anti-cavalry troops. Build a Cherokee alliance when the map and match plan justify investing around the settlement; protect the Native route or Trading Post that enables access.

Mobility is the main advantage

The combination of 8.0 speed and 18 line of sight reveals routes and punishes slow targets separated from support. It is most effective when it can disengage: avoid blocking it behind buildings or sending it into a narrow passage where infantry can surround it. Each ranged hit is only 8 damage, so focus fire and repeated movement matter more than expecting one Horse Archer to defeat a durable opponent.
