Map character

Scout the two short Trade Routes, nearby resource pockets and approaches from the surrounding mountain ranges. Resources are plentiful and the open plains allow quick movement, but a Trading Post still needs protection. Locate Habsburg and Jagiellon sites before choosing where to anchor the army.

What to scout

Secure one route first if the army cannot guard both; losing a station can quickly undermine a short route investment. Use the open plain to reinforce the chosen position, while watching mountain approaches for a flank. Expand to the second route when the economy and army can cover it without leaving workers exposed.

Open plains between mountain ranges

Hungarian Plains represents the grasslands of the Pannonian and Carpathian Basin. It lies between mountain ranges and offers plentiful resources with two short Trade Routes. Habsburg and Jagiellon settlements are available; Crabat and Hajduk are outlaws. The open ground makes route stations accessible, but does not remove the need to guard them.

Secure resources before both routes

Scout the two short routes and nearby resource pockets, then decide whether the army can hold a Trading Post while workers gather. Losing a station can quickly reduce a short route’s value, so avoid contesting both if the force cannot defend them. Use the plains to move reinforcements while watching mountain approaches for flanks. Hungarian Plains is a Knights of the Mediterranean land map.
