Map character

Check the starting biome before assigning team roles: the southwest grassy plain favors Hunts, while the northeast forest side has Gold Mines. Scout the Rhine and Trade Route crossing, then agree which player will secure the river stations. The two sides do not have identical opening resources.

What to scout

Use the starting biome to specialize worker allocation, and cross the river only when the army can protect the far bank. A forward Trading Post can be valuable but sits on a movement boundary and may be attacked from either side. Coordinate with teammates before splitting forces to defend both banks.

Two biomes on opposite banks

The Rhine River and its Trade Route divide the Rhineland. Teams start on the same side, but positions alternate between a grassy plain in the southwest and a thick temperate forest in the northeast. The forest side has Gold Mines, while the plains are rich in Hunts. Teammates can therefore have different opening economies; scout the actual start rather than copying a fixed assignment.

Route control and settlements

Bourbon, Habsburg, Hanover, Vasa and Wettin settlements are possible; Crabat and Inquisitor are outlaws. The river route can provide sustained value, but Trading Posts near it sit on a major movement boundary. Establish an economy that matches the starting biome, then decide whether the team can protect the route. Crossing exposes an army to attacks from either bank, so coordinate movement and support any forward post.
