Golden Pit

Overview

A central pit contains numerous large Gold deposits; control of the Gold is crucial.

Terrain and layout

A central depression enclosed by a ring of Stealth Forest forms the key battleground. A small cliff may appear along one side of the pit, while the rest of the map is mostly flat.

Resources and control

All contestable Gold is concentrated in Large Gold Mines inside the pit; players otherwise rely on their starting small mines. Stone comes in Small deposits, while food is more abundant than the map’s name suggests. Two Sacred Sites and some Relics may also lie in or near the pit; there are no Trade Posts.

Player considerations

Secure the approaches through the Stealth Forest before committing Villagers to the central Gold. Scout the pit’s cliff and objective positions, and protect the mining line: losing access to the main Gold supply can constrain later unit production and research.
