Faction identity

The Gendarmerie Nationale is a French Counter-Terrorist faction whose theme combines military organization with law-enforcement duties. The agents are portrayed as personnel prepared for field operations and public-safety incidents, rather than as a set of different gameplay classes. Their profile stories explain the clothing, equipment and specialist identities shown by their models.

CS2 separates faction choice from map assignment. The game uses its default Counter-Terrorist faction across maps, while an equipped Agent can provide an alternate character model. Choosing Gendarmerie Nationale therefore changes the selected visual identity on the CT side; it does not restrict the player to a particular Map or Game Mode.

Agents and item qualities

The five named agents are Aspirant (Distinguished), Sous-Lieutenant Medic (Exceptional), Officer Jacques Beltram (Exceptional), Chem-Haz Capitaine (Superior) and Chef d'Escadron Rouchard (Master). Quality is an inventory classification for the agent item. It is not a strength scale: a higher-quality character does not take less damage, move faster or receive a different Loadout.

Aspirant represents a junior member of the force and its rural field-operation theme. Sous-Lieutenant Medic is the roster’s medical specialist. The profile describes practical treatment experience in difficult environments, improvisation with limited supplies and the need to protect a casualty while providing aid. Those details establish character and vocation; the Medic model does not heal teammates in a CS2 round.

Officer Jacques Beltram is presented as a decorated officer known for courage and service. His profile centers on an extraordinary hostage exchange in which he offered himself in place of a civilian. The character honors French gendarme Arnaud Beltrame, whose real-world actions inspired the portrayal. This is part of the agent’s biography, while Hostage Rescue remains governed by the mode’s ordinary team objective and rules.

Specialist and command profiles

Chem-Haz Capitaine is a chemical and biological response specialist. The profile places him in a unit prepared to handle dangerous substances in populated areas and refers to the response to a Sarin attack at an airport. His protective equipment signals that duty. It is a cosmetic depiction and does not provide resistance to grenades or other damage.

Chef d'Escadron Rouchard is the senior command figure in the group. His account emphasizes operational planning, hostage negotiation and close combat with a blade; “Le Couteau” is the nickname associated with that knife-fighting reputation. His Master quality identifies the item tier, not a special melee attack or bonus. The profile distinguishes him from the medical and hazardous-material specialists through leadership and forceful field tactics.

How the faction works in CS2

All five agents occupy the same Counter-Terrorist role in a match. They follow the same movement, health, armor, weapon and objective rules as other CT agents. A selected model does not change the way Bomb Defusal works, grant a hostage interaction advantage, or alter the team’s economy. Choose among them for their appearance, voice and character presentation.

Agent items belong to Items & Inventory and can be equipped for the relevant side. Profiles may mention training, equipment or fictional accomplishments, but those descriptions are not hidden mechanics. Compare any agent’s inventory quality separately from match performance, and use the relevant game-mode and equipment entries for actual round rules.

History and scope

The roster combines several character specializations under one French CT faction identity. Availability can depend on the item’s release and current inventory or market conditions; a profile’s historical association with an operation does not mean that operation is active or that the agent is a current reward. The faction remains useful as a CS2 reference because its named agents, qualities and biographies are distinct parts of the game’s cosmetic catalogue.

This entry covers the Counter-Strike 2 faction and these five agent profiles. Earlier Counter-Strike map-based faction placements and retired-operation acquisition details are separate historical subjects and are not used to describe current CS2 match behavior.
