Team objectives
Counter-Terrorist objectives depend on the scenario. In Bomb Defusal, prevent the Terrorists from planting C4; if it is planted, reach the site and defuse it before detonation. Eliminating the Terrorists before a plant also wins the round, but after a plant the bomb must still be defused or detonate.
In Hostage Rescue, find a hostage, pick it up and escort it to a rescue zone. Rescuing any hostage or eliminating all Terrorists before time expires wins for the Counter-Terrorists. The role changes from denying a plant to protecting a slow-moving carrier, so teams need to adapt their route and use of time to the map objective.
CS2 equipment & factions
CS2 side-specific firearms include the P2000, USP-S and Five-SeveN pistols, MP9 submachine gun, MAG-7 shotgun, and M4A4, M4A1-S, FAMAS, AUG and SCAR-20. The Defuse Kit is an additional Counter-Terrorist purchase in Bomb Defusal, and an Incendiary Grenade can deny a site approach. Weapons, armor, kits and grenades compete for the team's Economy, so the loadout should fit the likely engagement and objective.
CS2 Counter-Terrorist factions include Brazilian 1st Battalion, FBI, Gendarmerie Nationale, KSK, SAS, SEAL Team 6, SWAT and TACP. Agent factions identify player models. They do not grant a different defuse time, rescue rule or weapon statistic. Shared CS2 firearms include the Dual Berettas, P250, CZ75-Auto, Desert Eagle, R8 Revolver, MP7, MP5-SD, UMP-45, P90, PP-Bizon, Nova, XM1014, M249, Negev, SSG 08 and AWP. The HE Grenade, Flashbang, Smoke Grenade and Decoy Grenade are shared utility choices.
Defending & responding
On a Bomb Defusal map, Counter-Terrorists divide coverage between the approaches and sites. Information that the bomb is elsewhere can trigger a Rotation, while a planted bomb shifts the priority to reaching the site and preserving time for a defuse. A kit changes the available defuse window; teammates can cover the defuser while the interaction completes.
On a Hostage Rescue map, move toward the hostages with enough support to protect the carrier on the return route. The carrier's reduced mobility gives Terrorists time to intercept, so teammates can clear the path or occupy defenders. The Italy and Office map entries show CS2 environments built around this objective.
