Faction identity in CS2
SAS is one of the Counter-Terrorist factions represented in Counter-Strike 2. The name expands to Special Air Service, and the faction carries a British special-forces identity. In CS2, SAS is the default Counter-Terrorist faction, providing the standard model presentation for that side. The faction name identifies a team appearance and its associated character material; it does not create a separate game mode or ruleset.
The SAS entry belongs alongside the Counter-Terrorists and wider Counter-Terrorist Factions references. Other CT factions can supply different models, but the active Map and mode still determine the round’s objective. The SAS designation does not lock the player to a particular map or give the team a special starting weapon.
Named SAS agents
The CS2 roster lists two named SAS agent items: B Squadron Officer and D Squadron Officer. Both have Distinguished quality. Their “B” and “D” labels distinguish the named item entries and the fictional officer identities associated with the faction; they are not player classes, squad-size choices or separate gameplay roles.
Both agent descriptions use the same official profile: SAS officers are highly classified and lethal, and spend years sharpening skills in infiltration, hostage rescue and other missions withheld from public view. The shared text emphasizes a common elite-officer background rather than assigning one officer a unique specialty. “Who dares, wins” is the motto used in that profile.
Quality is an inventory category, not a power rating. Selecting B Squadron Officer or D Squadron Officer does not increase accuracy, reduce damage, improve stealth or change equipment. They are two selectable character presentations within the CS2 agent system. See Agents and Agent Models for how named models relate to team appearance.
Appearance and match role
The SAS model and named agents use a tactical operator presentation associated with the faction. Their clothing, headgear and equipment establish the visual identity players see during a match, while the profile copy supplies brief character context. Those details remain cosmetic: an SAS model is not harder to identify by game rules and receives no extra protection from its uniform.
In Bomb Defusal, SAS players use the normal Counter-Terrorist role to stop a plant, eliminate the Terrorists or defuse the C4. In Hostage Rescue, the CT team follows the mode’s ordinary rescue and elimination conditions. The faction’s profile mentions infiltration and hostage rescue as background training, but this does not create a faster hostage interaction or a special objective ability. Consult Bomb Defusal and Hostage Rescue for the mode rules.
CS2 scope
This entry covers the SAS identity as used in CS2, its default Counter-Terrorist role and the two named agent items with their shared official profile. The faction page also contains extensive map appearances and model history from earlier Counter-Strike editions. Those assignments are not used to describe current CS2 play, where the faction and its agents are part of the shared CT model system.
Operation histories associated with an agent’s original release are separate from its CS2 role and current inventory availability. The presence of the B Squadron Officer or D Squadron Officer item in the roster does not imply that an older operation remains active or that either agent is a current reward.
