Role & loadout
The P2000 is one of the Counter-Terrorist starting pistols. Its selection is made through the CS2 loadout before a match; it is an alternative to the USP-S, not an additional pistol carried alongside it by default. The chosen sidearm is immediately relevant in pistol rounds and remains available as a backup after a player buys a primary.
The P2000 is semi-automatic and does not use the USP-S suppressor. Its un-suppressed report is audible to opponents, while shots and player position can provide information regardless of sound. The P2000’s role is shaped by the player’s starting loadout and by the distance of the engagement.
Aiming & ammunition
The pistol fires one round per trigger pull. Aim deliberately, especially at a distant target, and avoid firing repeatedly while moving if accuracy matters. The player must also monitor ammunition and choose a safe time to reload; an empty sidearm cannot support a teammate until the reload is complete.
A pistol is easier to carry as a backup than a second primary, but its damage and reach differ from a rifle. Switch to it when the primary is empty or when a close encounter makes the sidearm practical. Do not expect it to provide the same sustained fire or control as a rifle.
When players use it
Counter-Terrorists encounter the P2000 in pistol rounds when they select it for the starting loadout. A player can use it to hold an approach, take a careful shot or finish an opponent after switching from a primary. Teammates can create a crossfire so the pistol user is not forced into an isolated duel.
The USP-S is the alternate Counter-Terrorist starting pistol, while Terrorists receive the Glock-18. A Flashbang may help create a firing opportunity, and Kevlar Vest affects how weapon damage applies. See the Buy Menu for how a loadout is selected.
CS2 applicability
This entry describes the Counter-Terrorist P2000 as a CS2 starting pistol. It does not merge values from previous Counter-Strike editions. Exact damage, reserve ammunition and other numeric properties require a dated CS2 audit.
Counter-Terrorist Loadout shortcut (June 9, 2023)
The June 9, 2023 Limited Test update added a “Replace for CT” context-menu shortcut when the P2000 was equipped, allowing the Loadout choice to be switched to the USP-S. The reciprocal shortcut was available when the USP-S was equipped. This is a dated menu convenience for selecting the Counter-Terrorist pistol, not a change to either weapon’s performance.
