Terrorist spawn pistol and selectable fire modes
The Glock-18 is the Terrorist spawn pistol in CS2. It is available at the start of a half and after a death when the player receives the team’s default sidearm; it can also be purchased for $200. Its 20-round magazine gives it a larger capacity than several other pistols, helping a player continue a pistol-round engagement or finish a damaged opponent after switching from a primary weapon. Its base damage and 52% armor penetration are modest, so repeated accurate hits matter more against an armored Counter-Terrorist.
The player spawns in semi-automatic mode at a listed 400 rounds per minute. Alternate fire switches to a three-round burst at 1,200 rounds per minute. The burst delivers a fast cluster at close range, but the spread and delay between bursts make it harder to control across repeated volleys. Use semi-automatic fire for deliberate medium-range shots and reserve burst for a close target where all three bullets have a reasonable chance to land. In CS2 the burst mode has a 0.4-second delay between consecutive bursts; a 2026 fix restored the intended delay between bullets within the burst.
Pistol-round economy and practical limits
The Glock’s low cost makes it a practical fallback when the team saves money for a later rifle round. A player can keep the free spawn weapon and spend on armor or utility rather than replace it automatically. Its 240-unit-per-second running speed supports a fast group push, and its magazine helps pressure a defender whose pistol has fewer rounds. A Flashbang can help the group enter together; the Glock’s fire rate is most useful when teammates trade rather than when one player crosses a long angle alone.
The pistol is less effective at long range because damage falls off and burst fire spreads widely. Do not confuse its 20-round capacity with high per-shot power. Against armor, aim for repeated controlled hits, maintain cover for the reload, and use the burst only when distance is short. The listed 2.3-second reload is still a vulnerability if the magazine is emptied in a duel. For the opposing Counter-Terrorist starting-pistol choices, compare the USP-S and P2000; Economy and Buy Menu explain how the $200 pistol fits the round.
CS2 values and historical statistics
The Glock-18 is modeled after the select-fire Glock pistol family, but its in-game alternate mode is a three-round burst rather than fully automatic fire. The model’s real-world selector is not a separate gameplay control, and the CS2 burst mode should be described by its actual in-game behavior. The weapon’s earlier title history includes different prices and team availability; this entry describes the current CS2 Terrorist-only buy role.
The Wiki’s hitbox table is explicitly headed Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, so it is shown separately and must not be read as verified CS2 hitbox damage. The CS2 specification rows use the current price, damage, rate, range modifier and reload record. On March 18, 2026, CS2 changed magazine-fed reloads so a completed reload discards the remaining magazine and consumes a fresh one from reserve. Track the 20-round fill before reloading rather than carrying over old reload assumptions.
