Map overview

Office is organized around an interior workplace and its surrounding exterior approaches. The hostage objective makes routes and rescue access as important as winning direct engagements. Counter-Terrorists need to make progress toward the hostages, then escort them out; eliminating defenders alone does not complete the objective.

Players use callouts for the office rooms, garage, side halls, lobby and exterior access points. Since the interior contains connected corridors and rooms, communicate which doorway or route has been cleared. A teammate who enters first may reveal a defender’s position, but another player should be ready to cover the escort or trade an elimination.

Hostage rescue

Counter-Terrorists locate and interact with hostages, then move them toward an available rescue zone. Escort movement creates a new responsibility: players need to protect the hostage carrier and watch approaches rather than leave the rescued player exposed. The team should decide who leads, who follows and who checks the route ahead.

Terrorists defend access and can delay the rescue by holding corridors or forcing the Counter-Terrorists to spend time clearing rooms. A Hostage Rescue round has different priorities from Bomb Defusal: there is no C4 plant to defend, and the Counter-Terrorist win condition centers on completing the escort.

Entry, cover & information

Smoke can obstruct a defender’s view through an exposed entrance, and a Flashbang can help the team enter a contested room. Use utility to create a clear action, such as crossing a lane or entering a doorway together. A grenade does not confirm that a room is clear, so continue checking positions and communicate sightings.

After a hostage is rescued, the team’s formation should support the return route. If the carrier takes a long or exposed path alone, defenders may interrupt the escort. Share the route, preserve enough time to reach the zone and protect teammates as they move the hostage.

CS2 applicability & availability

This entry covers Office in Counter-Strike 2 Hostage Rescue. Matchmaking availability can vary by queue and update; the map’s objective description does not imply that every playlist currently includes it. Historical editions are outside the stated CS2 rules.

Prop and ceiling stuck-player fix (August 21, 2024)

The August 21, 2024 CS2 map update fixed a case where a player could become stuck between a prop and the ceiling on Office. The note identifies a trapped-player geometry issue but does not name the prop or location. It does not describe a new route or a change to Office’s Hostage Rescue objective.

September 27, 2023 Counter-Strike 2 launch update

Office became available as main-menu scenery in the September 27, 2023 CS2 release. This means the map could appear in the menu presentation; it does not by itself assert that Office was added to a particular ranked or casual map group. See Map Rotations for gameplay pool history.

Limited Test map availability (June 29, 2023)

Office entered Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test Deathmatch and Casual matchmaking on June 29, 2023. The announcement does not list Office for Competitive in that update. This dated queue information is separate from the map’s hostage-rescue setting and should not be treated as a statement about its later availability.

Vending machine and map fixes (September 15, 2023)

The September 15, 2023 Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test update adjusted the weight of the vending machine on Office and listed various additional fixes for the map. The note does not state a numeric weight, describe a gameplay interaction affected by that adjustment or identify the other fixed locations. It should be read as a dated map-maintenance record rather than a route or cover change. The same update separately adjusted Office ambient sounds; those audio changes are recorded in Audio Settings.

Collision, line-of-sight and performance fixes (April 25, 2024)

Office was part of the April 25, 2024 map-maintenance list. The patch records bug and exploit fixes, collision and line-of-sight adjustments, and minor performance improvements across Office and four other maps. It gives no hostage-room, corridor or exterior location, so the entry does not assign an undocumented route change to the Hostage Rescue layout.

Collision enabled on CT Spawn tarp (April 28, 2026)

The April 28, 2026 CS2 update enabled collision on the tarp placed over boxes around Office CT Spawn. Collision determines whether players and objects treat a surface as solid, so this fix changes interaction with that named map prop. The patch does not state its former behavior in detail or identify a new route, boost, or position made possible by the change.

This is a localized map correction, not a change to Office’s Hostage Rescue objective or the general movement rules. The affected object is identified by its position around CT Spawn; the note supplies no coordinates or further geometry description.
