Spray pattern and range

The UMP-45 is a both-team .45 ACP SMG with a deliberately slower rate of fire than many automatic sidearms in its class. Its first shots have low recoil, and the source describes good first-shot and moving accuracy. During a spray, the pattern climbs upward and right for roughly the first three rounds, then moves upward and sharply left after about the sixth. That pattern is more useful to understand as a changing correction than as a perfectly repeatable guarantee; short bursts limit how far the pattern develops.

The 25-round magazine and 75-round reserve constrain sustained fights, while the 3.5-second reload removes the player from the engagement for a long interval. The retrieved damage and armor-penetration fields are explicitly associated with older editions or Global Offensive, and the hitbox chart is likewise labelled CS:GO. This page does not relabel those values as CS2.

Close-range team use

The source recommends automatic fire at close-to-medium range while strafing, where the UMP-45 can use its low movement penalty and forgiving first shots. A quick verbal count can help structure the first part of a burst: begin at the head, correct downward as recoil rises, then track the torso as the later pattern shifts. At very close range, circling an opponent may make it harder for them to track the player, but this is a close-quarters choice rather than a substitute for cover.

When alone against several opponents, retreat if possible. The UMP-45’s lower firing rate and 25-round magazine make it less dependable for a multi-target hold than a larger-capacity SMG. Choose its $1,200 price when a budget automatic weapon lets the team retain funds for armor or utility; compare the 50-round P90, high-capacity PP-Bizon and higher-rate MP7 for different roles.

CS2 reload behavior

The March 18, 2026 CS2 reload update applies to the UMP-45: once the magazine is replaced, remaining rounds in the old magazine are discarded and a full one is taken from reserve. The HUD represents reserve ammunition in magazines and shows the loaded magazine’s fill level. With only 75 reserve rounds, avoid unnecessary reloads and make the 3.5-second reload from cover.

Appearance improvement (June 7, 2023)

The June 7, 2023 Limited Test patch listed the UMP-45 among weapons with an improved look. It did not describe the specific visual adjustment, and the note does not report a balance or handling change.
