September 27, 2023 Counter-Strike 2 launch update

The launch update allowed Chickens to fall off Vertigo. This corrected how the ambient map creature interacted with the map’s vertical space, rather than adding a new objective or combat interaction. A Chicken is scenery and ambient life; its movement does not affect player health, weapon damage or round scoring. See Vertigo for the environment.

Water interactions

The August 2, 2023 Limited Test update changed several water interactions: chickens could swim, and dropped weapons produced splash effects when they entered water. It also adjusted grenade-and-water interaction sounds. These notes concern water presentation and object behavior, not a change to weapon damage or grenade utility.

Fried-chicken effect (June 6, 2023)

An undocumented change noted on June 6, 2023 caused a Chicken killed by flame to spawn a fried-chicken model. The observation concerns the Chicken’s visual response to fire in the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test; it does not describe a scoring reward or change to incendiary damage.

Roasted Chicken floor collision (September 8, 2023)

The update fixed a case where roasted Chickens fell through the floor. It identifies a world-collision issue affecting the roasted Chicken prop but does not name the map or exact trigger. This cosmetic/environmental correction does not imply a change to live Chicken behavior or gameplay interaction.
