Map overview

Vertigo’s setting places the bombsites and routes on a high-rise construction structure. The open edges and narrow paths make positioning and utility important when moving between areas. A player crossing an exposed section may be visible from several directions, so teammates should coordinate before leaving cover.

Callouts including A Ramp, B Stairs, Mid and the site areas help players describe where an opponent appeared. Vertigo’s vertical layout makes directional detail useful: specify whether an enemy is above, below or approaching along a ramp when the position is visible.

A & B approaches

A is approached through the ramp and connected walkways. Attackers need to clear defenders and choose a plant location before the C4 Explosive can be defended. Counter-Terrorists can contest the ramp or withdraw to the site, weighing the risk of holding a narrow approach against the time required to retake.

B has separate stairs and access routes. The attackers must account for defenders holding the entry and for CTs rotating from A. The open construction setting means a smoke can be useful for blocking a crossing, but teammates should know which direction it covers and when they plan to move.

Positioning & rotations

The ramps and connections change how quickly players can reinforce a site. Teams should communicate before rotating because the route may expose a player to enemies watching the crossing. A defender who hears noise should distinguish between a full commitment and a possible attempt to draw players away.

Utility helps a team cross or retake. A Flashbang can disrupt an opponent holding a narrow path, and fire can delay a player trying to push through. After planting, attackers set positions to deny the defuse while Counter-Terrorists clear the site. The Defuse Kit entry explains the equipment that shortens the CT defuse interaction.

CS2 applicability & map pool

This page describes Vertigo as a CS2 Bomb Defusal map. The layout and matchmaking pool are separate subjects; availability changes should be recorded in Map Rotations with their applicable dates.

Grenade clipping adjustment (August 21, 2024)

The August 21, 2024 update adjusted grenade clipping on Vertigo. The brief note does not identify the affected surfaces, grenade types or lineups. It records a map-geometry correction to how grenades interact with clipping surfaces, not a change to their fuse, trajectory or utility effect.

September 27, 2023 Counter-Strike 2 launch update

The launch update adjusted vertical audio-occlusion boundaries on Vertigo and made the map available as main-menu scenery. The audio change concerns sound filtering between heights; scenery is a menu background and does not establish current matchmaking availability. See Map Rotations.

April 1, 2026 beta audio adjustment

The April 1, 2026 `animgraph_2_beta` update made vertical audio occlusion more gradual at transition edges on Vertigo and included the map among those receiving audio adjustments. The patch does not name a particular floor transition or sound source. This is an audio change in the Beta build, not a map-pool or geometry announcement. See Audio Settings for the other maps named by the update.

Removed from the Limited Test map set

Vertigo was among the maps removed from the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test map set on August 2, 2023. The note gives no mode-specific breakdown, so this entry records the removal as stated rather than assigning it to a particular queue. A later pool can include the map again; this historical change does not define current availability. See Map Rotations.

Limited Test map updates (July 18, 2023)

The July 18, 2023 update adjusted Vertigo lighting, added sounds to the restroom doors and fixed vacancy signs on those doors. These are dated presentation and audio changes. The notes do not identify a gameplay route, a collision change or the affected lighting locations.

Limited Test map fixes (July 19, 2023)

A July 19, 2023 Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test update recorded various fixes for Vertigo and Overpass. The available summary does not identify Vertigo-specific locations or the kind of fix, so this history should not be expanded into an assumed route, visibility or collision change.

Collision, line-of-sight and performance fixes (April 25, 2024)

The April 25, 2024 update included Vertigo among maps receiving bug and exploit fixes, collision and line-of-sight adjustments, and minor performance work. It did not specify a floor, bombsite, scaffold or viewing angle. The useful historical fact is the broad maintenance scope; later map-specific claims require a patch that names the changed feature.
