Map overview

Train’s central yard contains rail cars and tracks that create a series of covered and exposed lanes. The buildings and elevated routes add additional ways to approach or watch the sites. Because many objects look similar and block vision, callouts should identify both the relevant train or area and the opponent’s position relative to it.

Terrorists choose between A and B while Counter-Terrorists defend both and monitor connecting routes. The layout includes outside approaches and interior passages, so defenders need to balance long sightlines with close threats. A player holding one lane should tell the team when an opponent passes or disappears behind cover.

A & B site routes

A is approached through routes that pass the trains and adjoining buildings. Attackers must clear defenders who can hold from cover before planting the C4 Explosive. Defenders may contest the approach early or fall back to defend the site and preserve a retake.

B is positioned around its own train-yard and interior approaches. Attackers can use cover to move closer, but the cars can also conceal defenders and make clearing methodical. After the plant, both teams need to account for the available lines of sight to the bomb and the routes a CT may use to reach it.

Sightlines & utility

Smoke grenades can block long views across the yard or separate defenders from a site entry. Flashbangs can help players challenge a position behind cover, and fire utility can force an opponent to leave a protected angle. The team should coordinate timing so that the entry does not arrive before the utility or leave a gap after it fades.

Train’s many pieces of cover make information easy to lose. A player should avoid calling a position cleared after only a quick glance, and teammates should know which side of a train has been checked. These details help a team avoid exposing itself to a defender waiting on the opposite side.

CS2 applicability & map pool

This page describes Train as a CS2 Bomb Defusal map. Matchmaking availability changes over time and is tracked separately in Map Rotations. Historical layouts and other Counter-Strike versions are not used as evidence of current CS2 pool membership.
