Map overview

Overpass contains a surface-level route and a network of interior passages, including areas around the park, bathrooms, connector and tunnels. The map’s elevation changes and long views affect how safely players can cross. A route that appears open from one angle may be watched from a higher or concealed position.

Terrorists approach A and B through different routes, while Counter-Terrorists defend the sites and gather information. Callouts such as Long, Short, Bathrooms, Connector, Monster and Water help players report movement precisely. If a teammate sees an opponent, call the last known position and direction rather than assuming the enemy remains there.

Bombsites & access

The A site is connected to exterior approaches and interior routes that can let attackers split pressure. Counter-Terrorists may hold the entrances or retreat to safer positions when the attack commits. Terrorists need to clear the area around the plant and decide which approaches teammates can watch after planting the C4 Explosive.

B is connected to lower routes and approaches around Water and Monster. Defenders watch the entries but also need to consider a rotation from A. A smoke can block a sightline on a crossing, while a flash can help a player contest an angle. Utility can create time and space; it does not confirm that an area is empty.

Information & rotations

Overpass’s connections allow teams to move between sites, but a rotation takes time and can expose players on the way. Counter-Terrorists should share the evidence behind a rotation, including whether the bomb was seen or only opponents were heard. Attackers can use noise or a brief presence to draw defenders away, so avoid overcommitting to uncertain information.

After a plant, the attackers defend the C4 and the Counter-Terrorists must retake the site. A Defuse Kit changes how much time a CT needs to complete the defuse. Teammates should clear likely positions and coordinate who watches the bomb rather than approaching one at a time.

CS2 applicability & map pool

This entry describes Overpass as a CS2 Bomb Defusal map. Active matchmaking pools can change with updates; see Map Rotations for dated availability records. The layout description is not a claim that the map is currently present in each CS2 queue.

Canal and Park geometry fixes (August 21, 2024)

The August 21, 2024 update corrected minor visual bugs near Overpass Canal, adjusted clipping near Park for smoother movement, and added missing handrail collision. The handrail change makes the named piece of geometry participate in collision where it had been missing; the note does not specify exact coordinates or describe a new route. These are local visual and movement corrections, not a revision of Overpass’s bomb-site layout.

Counter-Strike 2 map layout and availability

Overpass is a Bomb Defusal map set around a canal overpass and park in Berlin. Counter-Terrorists defend a disabled cargo truck at A, while Terrorists can attack the site directly or contest the supporting route below. The Terrorist side begins near the canal; Bombsite B lies below the Counter-Terrorist spawn area and is reached by stairs, with elevated positions overlooking the site.

In the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test, Overpass was removed from the available map set on August 2, 2023. The map is also structured for other CS2 modes, but this dated test change is not a statement about later availability. Separate map-pool records from map identity and site layout. See Bomb Defusal and Map Rotations.

Limited Test map fixes (July 18, 2023)

The July 18, 2023 Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test notes list various fixes for Overpass without enumerating them. This records a dated maintenance pass only; no particular site, route, collision or performance change can be attributed to it from the available note.

Limited Test map fixes (July 19, 2023)

The July 19, 2023 Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test notes report various fixes to Overpass and Vertigo. They do not identify the affected locations or specify geometry, collision, lighting or performance changes. This dated entry records the maintenance update without assigning unsupported details to either map.

Limited Test layout updates (July 21, 2023)

The July 21, 2023 update changed some Overpass signage and adjusted jumpable locations, player-movement areas and wall-bangable locations. It also listed various bug fixes. These categories describe a map-maintenance pass, but the summary does not name the signs, jumps, walls or exact routes affected; consult the map itself rather than treating the patch note as a callout guide.

Limited Test map maintenance (July 25, 2023)

The July 25, 2023 Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test update adjusted jumpable locations and collision on Overpass, and included various bug fixes and tweaks. The patch does not name the locations or describe the exact collision changes. It is a dated map-maintenance record, not a route guide or a claim that every jump or surface changed.

Spawn-location spacing (September 5, 2023)

The update adjusted Overpass spawn locations to reduce the likelihood of players spawning stuck together. It identifies the purpose of the placement adjustment but gives no coordinates, team-specific points or before-and-after spawn layout. The entry therefore records the reported congestion-prevention intent without inventing a spawn guide.

Map fixes and tweaks (September 6, 2023)

The September 6, 2023 Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test update listed various bug fixes and tweaks for Overpass. It did not name a site, route, surface or specific defect. This is a dated maintenance record only; it does not support a new callout, lineup or claim about map-pool status.

Shadow fixes at Fountain, Playground and Long (April 2, 2026)

The April 2, 2026 animgraph_2_beta update fixed broken shadows at three named Overpass locations: Fountain, Playground and Long. The note describes a visual rendering problem and does not report changes to cover, visibility through geometry, player collision or map routes. Its scope is the beta build identified by the patch, so the fix should not be presented as proof of behavior in every CS2 branch.

Rotation change and map fixes (April 25, 2024)

The April 25, 2024 map rotation removed Overpass from the Active Duty Group, current competition pool and Premier matchmaking, replacing it with Dust II. Overpass remained a CS2 map; the dated change was its competitive-pool position. The patch also listed bug and exploit fixes, collision and line-of-sight adjustments, and minor performance improvements on Overpass. It did not enumerate the affected angles or individual exploits, so no particular route or sightline should be inferred from that general note.
