History of Vale Sangora: Part One
This volume opens with Dacian Boarescu, the first ruler of Vale Sangora granted the title of knyaz. He ruled benevolently and peacefully, devoted to strengthening the valley, but his reign ended abruptly: in AD 1148 he answered Pope Eugene III's call for a crusade by sending a retinue of Sangoran knights to Jerusalem under his heir Dragomir. Not one came back, and hearing of his heir's death, the knyaz was stricken by a terrible affliction, became paralysed, and died a year later.
His successor Tiberiu Boarescu was only seven, and quickly fell under the influence of his chief advisor, Bishop Valerian — so for decades the valley was ruled de facto by the Church, with Tiberiu a knyaz in name only.
