Scenario details
Trace the ambitions and expeditions of Holy Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. Mission order and scenario notes: 1. Holy Roman Emperor — A surrounded starting base faces six rival duchies. Scout for Relics and use Monks to bring enough back to your Monasteries; defeating every opponent is an alternate route 2. Henry the Lion — Fight Poland with a fixed army while Bavaria and Saxony provide resources. Once the Polish threat is broken, Henry turns against Barbarossa 3. Pope and Antipope — Begin without villagers and secure a way to establish an economy, then cross the river and reach Milan’s Cathedral. The mission ends when Monks convert the building 4. The Lombard League — Escape a failing starting position, establish a new base, and survive the Lombard cities’ attacks long enough to build a Wonder inside one of their fortified settlements 5. Barbarossa's March — Move the army east across hostile Anatolia by land or sea. Scouting and preserving enough troops matters more than defeating every opponent along the route 6. The Emperor Sleeping — A final escorted passage across the Holy Land. Prepare before the temporary truce ends, then clear a safe route through enemy-held territory for the fragile cart Use the named objectives, starting setup, and mission order in this entry to distinguish it from the standard skirmish rules.
