CAMPAIGN · THE AGE OF KINGS
Pope and Antipope
Begin without villagers and secure a way to establish an economy, then cross the river and reach Milan’s Cathedral. The mission ends when Monks convert the building.

Overview
Begin without villagers and secure a way to establish an economy, then cross the river and reach Milan’s Cathedral. The mission ends when Monks convert the building.
Player approach
Pope and Antipope begins without Villagers, so the first objective is to convert workers and establish a base. Once the economy is working, a Castle and Teutonic Knights can open the route toward Milan’s Cathedral.
Step-by-step plan
Protect the Monks while the starting army clears nearby guards, then convert Villagers at the northeastern mines and southeastern Farms. Use them to build an economy at the safest available site and add a Castle early enough to produce Teutonic Knights. Keep watch on the Dock because River Guard and Milanese units can raid by land and water; use the new army to clear the guards along the Milan route before approaching the Cathedral.
Risks and adjustments
Do not send Monks ahead without protection while searching for workers. Three base sites offer different protection and expansion options, so choose one that keeps Villagers safe; delay the Cathedral assault until the Castle can replenish losses.
