Player approach
Up in Smoke carries a major reward into the final mission: recovering the Portuguese Gunpowder Cart prevents Cunhambebe from gaining Bombard Cannons. Secure that objective while simplifying the battlefield into one defendable route.
Step-by-step plan
After establishing a base, prioritize the secondary objective and send an escorted force for the Gunpowder Cart before Cunhambebe reaches it. Wall all but one approach between the two bases so repairs and military response can focus on a single lane. Place the army where it can answer both attackers, and collect the western Relic early if the route is safe. Use the recovered Cart’s carryover reward to reduce the final mission’s siege pressure.
Risks and adjustments
On Legendary, Durand can send a large mixed force with several Bombard Cannons, so the wall and repair line need a reserve. Do not send the Cart escort through an active siege, and keep the main army close enough to protect both the base and Mem de Sá’s route.
