Overview

A forward Castle creates pressure; follow-through turns its protected area into production, resource control, or siege support.

Plan and execution

Scout the site, escort builders, keep home defense, and use the completed Castle to secure a route or nearby resources. Add army support before advancing.

Risks and adaptation

Without support, the Castle can be contained or bypassed. Protect repairs and decide the position’s purpose before committing.

Decision example

Before placing a forward Castle, choose whether it will deny a gold mine, protect a crossing, support unique-unit production, or open a siege route. Escort builders and keep a fallback for the home economy. Once construction finishes, scout the opponent’s response and use the protected space quickly: place production behind it, collect the controlled resource, or bring siege toward a reachable target. If the enemy bypasses the Castle, move part of the army to defend home instead of committing every unit to the forward position.
