Plan and execution
Build the unit only when the economy can support its high cost, then keep the group behind a screen that prevents Pikemen, Monks, and other counters from reaching it. Use the durability to hold a firing position and support siege or infantry rather than sending Elephant Archers ahead as an isolated raiding force.
Risks and adaptation
The unit is expensive and does not gain enough offensive power to justify replacing a cheaper archer mass in every matchup. Pikemen and Monks remain dangerous, and focused counters can erase the investment; scout before scaling production.
