Overview
Honfoglalás is a sequence of connected phases where losing is sometimes required to advance. Preserve each phase’s hero-like mounted unit and treat the river route as the opening survival objective.
Plan and execution
In the first phase, do not try to defeat the Pecheneg army; move east and follow the river toward the Khazars. When the next phase grants a Town Center and Villagers, establish enough economy to meet its specific objective without overbuilding units that will not carry forward. Keep a separate save before each major transition and identify the phase’s survival target before engaging. Use the mounted hero to scout safe paths and keep the rest of the force close enough to support the next trigger.
Risks and adaptation
A conventional conquest approach can prevent the intended phase transition and waste the starting force. The player cannot freely advance ages, and each phase changes its rules; preserve the designated hero and adapt the economy to the current objective.
