Overview

Light Cavalry are fast, resist conversion, and can threaten Monks, siege, and exposed archers while costing only food. They provide a useful way to spend food when gold is needed elsewhere.

Plan and execution

Use a small group to sweep along the edge of the main battle, removing Monks or artillery that lack protection. Send additional Light Cavalry toward an exposed resource when the opponent’s army is occupied, and keep a route open for retreat.

Risks and adaptation

They are weak in prolonged fights against heavy cavalry, Camels, or infantry. Do not treat them as a heavy-cavalry replacement or send them under a Castle to reach a low-value target.
