Longbowman range-and-wall defense
Longbowman: Longbowmen gain their strength from range and group fire: a coordinated mass can hit a force before it reaches normal firing distance. They can also support a wall defense by shooting through safe openings.

Plan and execution
Gather a group before advancing and place it behind infantry or terrain that slows the approach. Use the range to defend a vulnerable lane or focus targets crossing open ground, then move the formation when cavalry or siege changes the threat.
Risks and adaptation
A single Longbowman is not a frontline unit. Cavalry, siege, and a prepared archer counter can remove the group if it is isolated; keep a screen and avoid camping within siege range.
