Overview

Outposts and mobile scouts can reveal raids and expansion before they reach the economy.

Plan and execution

Cover crossings, resource clusters, and alternate approaches, then connect each sightline to a response plan. Move coverage as the front shifts.

Risks and adaptation

Posts can be destroyed or bypassed. Use periodic scouting and avoid diverting too many workers to vision. Cover a route your army cannot watch continuously and connect the vision to a nearby response point. Move or replace posts when the front shifts, so workers do not pay for information about an abandoned lane.

Decision example

An Outpost is most useful where it answers a recurring question: which river crossing the enemy uses, whether a Relic is being taken, or when a new army leaves the opponent's base. Place it behind a defended line so it survives long enough to matter. Combine its fixed vision with a mobile unit to inspect blind corners, and move the army when it reveals a real threat. Vision that does not change a decision is less valuable than a protected resource or production building.
