Overview

Market trades can cover a shortfall blocking a specific transition, but repeated exchanges grow costly.

Plan and execution

First check whether worker reassignment solves the shortage. Trade toward a defined goal such as an Age advance or urgent counter, then restore gathering balance.

Risks and adaptation

Selling too much leaves the economy unable to build Farms or replace units. Treat the Market as a temporary adjustment. Check the exchange before selling resources needed for Houses, Farm reseeding, or an imminent queue. A small worker reassignment often solves a continuing shortage more sustainably than repeated trades.

Decision example

Use the Market to solve a short-term shortage, not to replace a working economy. If a Castle Age click is blocked by a small amount of gold, one trade can be useful; repeated purchases at worse rates are costly. Check why the imbalance happened and move Villagers before the next production cycle. Team trade belongs to a different, longer plan and needs protected Markets and a safe route. Avoid selling the resource required for an imminent unit or upgrade.
