Orthodoxy Monk-frontline support

Orthodoxy makes Slavic Monks more durable, allowing them to stay closer to the melee units they heal or support with conversions. It helps against ranged pressure but does not remove the need for a protective screen.

Overview

Orthodoxy makes Slavic Monks more durable, allowing them to stay closer to the melee units they heal or support with conversions. It helps against ranged pressure but does not remove the need for a protective screen.

Plan and execution

Add Orthodoxy when Monks are already supporting a composition built around Champions, Boyars, or Halberdiers. Keep them just behind the frontline so they can heal damaged units or attempt conversions without being the first target. Move between fights to restore the army, and exploit the added resistance to ranged attacks when holding a lane against Crossbowmen or Skirmishers.

Risks and adaptation

Hussars and other mobile melee units can still reach the Monks, and durability does not replace conversion range or tactical attention. Avoid letting the support group drift into the enemy’s main army; use the frontline and terrain to control access.
