Overview

Roger in Sicily begins with a brief decision about Ibn at-Timnah. Holding him reveals the map and brings scattered followers to your side, creating a stronger route to take Ibn al-Hawwas’ city.

Plan and execution

Choose whether to hold Ibn at-Timnah before the short decision window expires. If you hold him, scout Sicily to collect his followers, then approach the green city with a fast unit to draw defenders away from the Emir. Defeat Ibn al-Hawwas to gain the city, its Villagers, and army; use the captured production to finish the local defenses and secure the island.

Risks and adaptation

Deleting Ibn at-Timnah during the opening window causes defeat. Avoid damaging buildings in the green city before the Emir falls, since taking control of the intact settlement is more valuable than clearing it by force.
