Overview

Gold access governs many army and upgrade options; multiple sources create choices when one deposit is threatened.

Plan and execution

Scout before the starting Gold Mine is exhausted. Protect forward mining with vision and nearby troops, establish another deposit when affordable, and research Gold Mining when enough workers will benefit. Contest enemy gold only if the route can be held.

Risks and adaptation

Forward deposits can lure the army into a bad fight. Spread workers and keep a lower-cost option if access is cut. Build the Mining Camp on the side protected by your army, and use vision to spot approaches. A second deposit can be safer than repeatedly fighting over the center.
