Overview

Spartans receive Polemarch heroes as they advance, and can train replacements at Town Centers. At the Town Center they research Polemarch improvements: Morai or Ephorate changes the aura, while Skeuophoroi enables the health upgrade Hippagretai.

How this system affects decisions

Treat research as a sequence of choices: check its building, Age, prerequisite, cost, and the units or economy affected. An upgrade is most valuable when it arrives before the army needs it and improves enough of the units already in production; researching every available technology is rarely the best use of a limited stockpile.

How to use this reference

Spartans receive Polemarch heroes as they advance, and can train replacements at Town Centers. At the Town Center they research Polemarch improvements: Morai or Ephorate changes the aura, while Skeuophoroi enables the health upgrade Hippagretai. Research availability is part of the civilization’s tech tree: verify its required building and Age, then compare its cost with the units or upgrades the same resources could otherwise fund.
