Overview

Used mainly for castles and fortifications, with additional uses determined by the structure or game rules.

Spending priorities

Stone is a limited map resource used prominently for Castles and fortifications, with other structures or rules adding further costs. Decide early whether the next stone spend protects an exposed resource, creates a forward Castle position, or supports extra Town Centers. Mining it too soon can delay food, wood, or gold for the first army.

Contesting deposits

Scout the locations of nearby stone mines and how safely Villagers can work them. A Castle plan can fail even with enough stored stone if miners are driven away before construction starts. Secure the site with vision and an escort, keep builders alive, and consider buying a small shortfall at the Market only after comparing its exchange cost with the time available.
