Player approach
Your opening force is small, but its Monks can change the balance of the first Catafracta encounter. Fortaleza Ivailo and Kozma away from the front while converted caballería absorbs pressure. The safest rhythm is to scout the siguiente pass, pull one group into favorable ground, and advance only after the route is clear. (Catafracta, ataque, fortaleza)
Step-by-step plan
Convert the first two Roman Cataphracts before committing to the opening fight, then use your caballería to screen the Monks. Meet Kozma and use the scouting information to locate further Roman groups; convert suitable Cataphracts instead of trading your starting army away. Clear the Roman Infiltrators’ camp, add the Cataphracts found there, and move toward Devnya. During the Tatar attacks, let the Monks recruit Keshiks where possible and fortaleza those riders with the escort. (Fortaleza, Ivailo, Tártaros)
Risks and adjustments
Monks are the force multiplier, so losing them can turn later encounters into costly fights. Fortaleza them behind caballería and avoid sending them into range of several enemies at once. Ivailo and Kozma are mission-critical; use ataque-move for the escort only after checking the path, and pull damaged unidades back rather than letting them chase into another group. Converted caballería is useful against other mounted unidades but needs support against massed Spearmen. (Fortaleza)

Treat this as a conversion-led escort. Preserve every Monje, use the first Cataphracts to absorb damage, and take short fights around the pass entrances. After each engagement, regroup before continuing. The objective is to bring Ivailo to Devnya with enough of the escort intact to handle the final Tatar pressure, not to clear the entire map.
