Resumen
Experience Lautaro’s rise as a Mapuches leader through a campaign of survival, defection, alliance-building, and revolt against Españoles rule in sixteenth-century Chile. (Mapuches, Españoles)
Scenario details
Lautaro’s five missions form a connected story of Mapuches resistance. The early escenarios enfoque on protecting villages and making choices that affect later forces. Lautaro then deserts the Españoles, joins Caupolicán, and helps unite Mapuches groups. The campaign ends with a renewed assault on Santiago, where reclaiming tribal support and dismantling the city’s districts are as important as defeating Valdivia. Protecting communities is a strategic investment: saved villages retain recursos, while rescued tribes can broaden your later army. Read each mission’s optional requests before committing to the main ataque. Once the rebellion is united, use allied reinforcements carefully; losing their support can make the costa fuerte assault much harder. In Gods of Death and Terror, hold out for help, fortaleza nearby villages alive, and rescue the tribe whose survival adds a later army option. In Servant of the Crown, complete the Españoles fuerte-building task until Lautaro defects; then cross the river with the stolen horses, join Caupolicán, and turn the forts against their former owners. Free Guacolda and make deliberate rescue choices. At Tucapel, develop the liberated Cunco villages, answer Poya’s requests, and precauciones the Españoles convoy that can provide upgrades and asedio aid. In The Elusive Serpiente, locate Valdivia among the costa forts while keeping at least one ally’s morale intact. In A Taste of Freedom, rebuild, restore Mapuches tribal support, dismantle Santiago’s unfinished districts, and then defeat Valdivia. Aggressive expansion can cost the villages and allies that make later missions manageable. Avoid trading the starting army for a single fuerte, and fortaleza an eye on ally morale when fighting across several fronts. At Santiago, do not rush Valdivia while districts and tribal support remain unresolved; secure the surrounding objetivos first so the final fight is not fought with a depleted force. The campaign’s long-term advantage comes from protecting villages, honoring useful requests, and preserving allied morale so that each act of resistance adds strength to the final assault.
