Opening decision and first timing

Composition, counters, and transition

Prioridades iniciales
Choose early economic research selectively: an upgrade only pays off when enough Villagers can benefit from it. Protect the transition with scouting and a small defensive force.
Ejército principal
Use caballería to exploit the economía lead and Coustilliers for decisive charge damage. Add infantería or a distancia support when enemy spears and Monks make pure caballería inefficient.
Technology & transition
Viñedos de Borgoña and Revolución flamenca offer late-game options with very different economic consequences. Choose them only when the current stockpile and battlefield justify the commitment.
Precauciones
Early upgrades compete with unidades and age advancement. Avoid investing in several tecnologías at once while leaving the base exposed.
