Effect & research conditions

Research requires the Ethiopian Habesha Alliance and costs 500 Influence; it takes 30 seconds at a Mountain Monastery. The +5 applies separately to the Abun train limit, Line of Sight and healing range. The gathering restriction is permanent for the affected Abun role, so the technology trades one economic use for stronger and more numerous battlefield support.

Research condition

Available to Ethiopians from the Commerce Age. Research it at Mountain Monastery.

When to research

Choose it when Abun will accompany the army as healers and scouts rather than work at Monasteries. The larger train limit and range improve support coverage, but the Influence cost and loss of gathering access matter if Monasteries are still an important part of the economy. Keep Abun protected so their healing investment survives.

A stronger support unit with a gathering trade-off

Book of Axum increases the Abun train limit, Line of Sight and healing range by five. It also prevents Abun from gathering from Mountain Monasteries. The technology therefore develops Abun into a more capable field support unit while removing an economic use.

Decide before expanding the Abun group

The upgrade costs 500 Influence and takes 30 seconds in the Commerce Age. Research when the army can use the additional Abun and their healing reach, not simply because the research is available. Preserve the remaining Monastery economy through other workers or sites if it is still needed.
